2026
We will be twenty two years old this year. Time flies. I can remember joing in 2009 with John Browning with Ray leading SUSA. We never imagined that we would be standing out the front for fifteen years. Ray was an inspiration to us. Now of the original group who first met in Bewdley (hence SUSA - Severnside Ukulele Strummers Association or as one of our saucier MCs put it Sexy Underwaer So Alluring) we have three who still manage to come.
Our members come from far and wide, Reddich, Far Forest, Harbourne, Bewdley, Stourbridge, Hagley and of course Kidderminster. We travel to these places to entertain, keeping Ray's legacy alive. One comment recently from a member was "I live for my Thursday nights". Our newest member commented; Hi Jackie I did really enjoy last night - I’ve not had a hobby since my youngest son was born nearly two years ago. Just one session has had a positive impact on my mental health!! I can’t wait to keep practicing. Everyone in the group is so friendly too, I’m glad to have found you all! I loved playing your ukulele last night, thank you for that! Katy
We still enjoy taking our music and our enthusiasm to play at care homes, WI's, Drop in Centres etc. We take a bag of percussion with us to hand out to the audience and if they wish we provide the song sheets that we will be using.
Our gigs this year include;
February 10th - Headway, Worcester Wow. What a fantastic session this morning. We really enjoyed the music, the happiness and fittingly at the end the lovely sunshine. On behalf of all of us at Headway, a huge thank you for the joy you brought into our lives today. Warm regards, Glen.
